Langstaff Woods Community Vaughan
Date: 1985-2005 Partner-in-charge: Bob Cutler, John Bousfield
The Langstaff Woods Community is a 416-hectare planned residential community, bounded by Highway 7, Bathurst Street, Rutherford Road and Dufferin Street. As part of a multi-disciplinary consulting team, Bousfields facilitated the approval of an overall block plan and individual draft plans of subdivision.
The block plan prepared by Bousfields and approved by the City addressed, among other matters: institutional uses and public spaces, woodlots and valley features, including appropriate buffers; an integrated system of arterial, collector, and local roads; appropriate storm, sanitary, and water services; proposed zoning provisions; urban design guidelines; and
phasing. Three educational facilities, a reservoir, a cemetery, and several historic structures represented challenges and opportunities that were addressed through the block plan.
All of the subdivision plans have been now been approved by the City, and are currently built or under construction.
